IGNOU To Offer Disability Course for Teachers

New Delhi:, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is planning to launch a short-term course in order to train teachers across the nation in disability issues. The announcement was made on Thursday i.e. on March 17, 2011 by an IGNOU official.
 
As per sources, the new programme named 'Foundation Course on Education of Children with Disabilities' has been launched under the aegis of the National Centre for Disability Studies, IGNOU.
 
The Official said that the cell would provide advanced training to teachers, who are already teaching disabled students. The three-month course will be offered under distance learning mode and will provide hands-on practical training and exposure, apart from theoretical input
 
Moreover, the official informed that their 100 special study centres present in each state will also be used for this purpose. At present, the programme will be conducted in English and Hindi and by June 2011, it will be offered in nine regional languages.
