IIM-C Plans To Offer New Courses

Kolkata: Indian Institute of Management (IIM-C) is planning to introduce many new courses including those that would encourage a greater inclusion of women.
According to an IIM-C professor on condition of anonymity said that they are working towards ensuring increasing the number of women at IIM-C by coming up with courses parallel to the flagship post graduate diploma in business management.

As per sources, in case of most IIMs, the issue of male female ratio has been contentious for a while now, in light of the average ratio of 80-20 in favor of men that characterizes most classes. With the increasing number of female candidates, IIM-C is looking at ways of encouraging admission as well.

Saugata Roy, dean, IIM-C said that with growing complications in international economic management, there is growing relevance for a deeper understanding of issues of financial and debt instruments. He said that added that they are looking at introduction of relevant courses tailor made for working executives.

Besides, IIM-C will also launch executive programmes for about 1,000 students, which would be primarily self funded courses. Professor Roy explained that in most cases, it is tough to come across good amounts of government funding. He also mentioned that these courses will provide the dual purpose of funding along with training more professional.
