Kolkata: Indian Institute of Management – Calcutta (IIM-C) on March 8, 2011 has concluded with its final placement session. The session warpped up in five days with all 388 students of 2011 batch being absorbed by renowned firms.
According to a statement issued by IIM-C on the first day of the placement, finance, considered to be IIM, Calcutta's forte, saw a manifold rise in the number of offers compared to last year.
As per sources, with investment banks like UBS, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and HSBC picking up many students, offers were for desks across the globe, including Singapore. Japanese investment bank Daiwa Securities and a global consulting firm, Essex Lake group also gave exclusive offers to IIM - Calcutta.
Furthermore, on the first day, called as day zero, the consulting firms gave the most number of offers with the usual favorite Mckinsey & Co alone making 13 offers, including 4 pre-placements. Moreover, the firm recruited for its Singapore, Sydney and India offices.
