New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management - Rohtak (IIM-Rohtak) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one of the best US b-school, Kelley School of Business (KSB). The main objective is to achieve excellence in global business education.

Sources have informed that the MoU was signed by the president of Indiana University Michael McRobbie and IIM-R Director P Rameshan. As per the MoU, both institutions will work together in areas like organizing faculty research workshops, joint research projects, academic programmes, conferences and cultural programmes besides doctoral student mentoring and development.

Initially, the MoU will be for a period of five years. Later, it will be automatically renewed for the similar period. According to a release, the MoU will explore the chances of introducing a dual-degree programme in business analytics and global strategy. The dual degree programme would be designed, developed, marketed and delivered by both the institutes and would be mainly taught at IIM Lucknow's Noida campus by faculty members from both the institutes.

Moreover, the Rohtak MP and alumni of the Indiana University, who played a vital role in the inking of the MoU, asked IIM-R to explore possibilities of opening outreach campuses of the institute in NCR as it is the only IIM in the region.

Speaking in the similar context, Mr. Rameshan said that the expansion plan will be taken up subsequently after the institute moves to its permanent campus, which is a likely by 2013. He also informed that the first batch of the institute had 50 students, whereas in the second batch more than 120 students have been admitted.
