IIM-Shillong to Offer Law Course

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management - Shillong (IIM-Shillong) is likely to offer law courses. However, the institute is yet to decide on the duration and the nature of the programme to be offered (one-year diploma/ two-year Master’s). With the introduction of law courses it will become the first IIM in the country to offer courses in management as well as law.

Ashoke K Dutta, Director, IIM-S, said that there is a saying that 'justice delayed is justice denied.' Therefore, they as management professionals at IIM-S, want to help the Indian judicial system so that it is able to increase its levels of competence.

Moreover, Dutta also informed that, in Germany, there are examples of two such universities together offering courses in management and law. He mentioned that this was a reason of motivation to launch a similar programme, which will be useful to judicial officers and managers in India. Moreover, he informs that they are in discussion with a judicial university, in association with which they hope to finalize the programme soon.
