Jamia Introduces New Course in MA in Early Childhood Development

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University has introduced a new course namely MA in Early Childhood Development. The course is introduced for the students enrolled in its recently established Centre for Early Childhood Development and Research (CECDR). The CECDR has proposed to offer this course in from this upcoming session i.e. 2011-12. There will be total 15 seats in the course as if now and the duration of the programme will be of two year divided into four semesters. The last date to submit the application forms for admission into MA in Early Childhood Development is May 14, 2011.
 
The eligibility criteria for applying for the course is a three years Bachelor’s degree in child development, home science, psychology, social work with at least 50% marks in the aggregate or equivalent or three years Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or equivalent. According to the sources, more than 15,000 forms for admission into various courses for the academic session 2011-12 in less then a week. The fact actually shows the enthusiasm of the students to be part of this esteemed university.
 
The Centre for Early Childhood Development and Research’s (CECDR’s) vision is to see an India in which every young child is provided a nurturing and stimulating environment for his/her optimal as well as holistic development. Moreover, the purpose of the centre is to create an enabling environment for enlightened policy and practice for early childhood development. Most particularly with reference to children who are most marginalized, through sustained attention and efforts of the government and civil society based on a scientific understanding of children's development needs.
