New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has decided to discontinue PG (Post Graduate) course in Computer Applications, from ensuing academic session 2012. Presently, the course is being offered at four DU colleges i.e. Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS), Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Acharya Narendra Dev College.

As per sources, the Faculty of Science wrote to the colleges, recently, informing them of the decision to discontinue the course from this academic session. Sources also confirmed that the decision has been finalized due the less course takers over the last few years.

Confirming the news, Poonam Verma, Principal of SSCBS, said that the college received the intimation on Friday night. She later explained that for the past four to five years, the college is able to attract only five to 10 students for the course. Moreover, some of the students pull out in the middle of the session.

Therefore, colleges had recommended that the course should be discontinued as students were struggling to get jobs after completing the PG diploma, Verma concluded.
