DU Makes Changes in Examination Plan

Delhi: Delhi University (DU), Delhi, has again introduced some changes in examination plan for the next session. Earlier, in the month of October, DU’s made the changes asking students to write their names along with the parent’s name on the answer scripts, but this has been changed again. According to sources, the new rule states that students should mention only their roll numbers and date of birth on the answer sheets.

While discussing about the changes, Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor (VC), DU, said that the earlier proposed changes with regard to the answer script format were under consideration by the examination branch. In their study it was found that writing roll numbers (identification code) was 'robust' and worked without any trouble. Thus, it was decided to change the exam format, he said. In addition, as per new scheme, students will be writing their roll numbers and date of birth along with the name of the course (paper) that they are appearing for, he added.

Besides, the decision of three examiners evaluating one answer sheet will remain effective without any change. Moreover, from this year onwards, the South campus will also have evaluation centres. In addition, a head examiner will be employed on each panel who will oversee the whole evaluation process. Sources also informed that to ease the burden on the examination branch, DU has assigned the task of formulating the award sheets of students for the practical examination to colleges. As till now, the university was responsible for preparing the award sheets for both practical and theory exams.

Appreciating the changes in the examination pattern and award sheets preparations, Pradumn Kumar, Principal, Hindu College, said that giving the responsibility of award sheets to colleges is surely a welcome move. He also said that now colleges will be held more accountable while preparing the award sheets. In addition, the new system will be student-friendly and in case of any problems, it can be checked at the college-level itself, Kumar concluded.

The last date for submission of examination forms for November-December semester exams has been extended to November 7. For more details about the examination form and submission, students can visit the University’s official website: http://www.du.ac.in/.
