Executive MBA Programme on China's Growth Story at IIM Shillong

Shillong: Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, popularly known as RGIIM Shillong, Meghalaya, is planning to launch a one-year executive MBA programme on China’s Growth Story from April 2012. The programme has been initiated to understand the business strategy and growth process of the world’s second super power - China.

This postgraduate programme, or PGP-Ex, in international business with special emphasis on China will be offered at IIM Shillong and Ocean University of China as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two institutions. Students enrolled into the programme will spend the first six months at IIM Shillong and the remaining six months at Ocean University campus in Qingdao to study the Chinese Management system.

IIM Shilong is the youngest Indian Institute of Management, established in 2007, and the only IIM in the northeastern part of India. To add to the educational spectrum, the Institute has also started an advanced management programme for senior management executives and bureaucrats to understand the management strategy of Asia’s power giant. To improve trade and relations between the two neighbors, the Meghalaya Government recently sent 20 officers to take up an advance management course in China.

Ashoke K. Dutta, Director, IIM Shillong, clarified that the business strategy and management system of China should be understood since the country is the largest trading partner with US and European countries. The vast expanse of business can be benefited by India in the coming years, by further enhancing and strengthening the bond, he added. He also said that without getting familiar with the Chinese business strategy, it will not be possible to move forward on the track of growth and development. China has emerged as a role model for every nation and the inclusion of the programme will be fruitful for India in the coming years, he concluded.
