BHU IMS to Organize Its Two-Day Gastro Meet from April 27 to 28

Varanasi: A two-day annual conference will be organized from April 27 to 28, 2013 by Banaras Hindu University, Institute of Medical Sciences, Department of gastroenterology. It will be the 24th annual conference conducted by the University’s Department of gastroenterology.

 It will be organizing its 24th annual conference on Indian Society of Gastroenterology (UP chapter) and the mid-term national conference on Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India. The venue for the conference will be the KN Updupa Auditorium, BHU.
Dr VK Dixit of the department of gastroenterology, IMS, BHU informed that around 250 scholars and experts from across the country will be participating in the conference.

As per sources, Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, Dr Shiv Kumar will be the chief guest. Moreover, several leading gastroenterologist from the state will be present during the two-day conference. The topics that will be covered and discussed during the meeting will be in the field of gastrointestinal diseases and various liver diseases.

In the year 1960, the Institute of Medical Sciences Banaras Hindu University (IMS BHU) came into existence as College of Medical Sciences. Initially, it had only 9 Departments of Modern Medicine. Later, in 1971, the college was upgraded to the status of an Institute of Medical Sciences. At present, the Institute has 33 Departments of Modern Medicine including 10 Departments of Super-specialities and 8 Departments of Ayurveda.
