DU UG Admissions 2013 To Be Based on Cut-Off Marks & Choice of Major Disciplines

New Delhi: As we all know, Delhi University (DU) will be introducing a four-year degree undergraduate (UG) course from this year July session. As per report, admissions for these newly introduced 4 year UG courses in the Delhi University will be made on the basis of two factors i.e., the cut – off percentages (in 12th examinations) and the choice of major discipline of an applicant. The existing pattern of cut – off percentages, however, will be retained for the July session as the final criteria has not yet been finalized.

As per sources, a meeting was conducted by the committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), recently. During the meeting, several discussions were taken including framing of guidelines; examination and time table which is to be followed in the forthcoming session of the University. Apart from the above, an increment in the existing seats was also proposed in during the discussion session.

Speaking on this occasion, Virender Bhardwaj, one of the members of the committee and a teacher at the Shivaji College said that, DU is renowned for its honours course, which will now be enhanced as a four year programme. Explaining more, he added that under this new format, each student will have the opportunity of completing his / her honours programme-baccalaureate with honours in the major discipline or a B Tech degree — if he/she studies for four years. Earlier, the University had decided to do away with the Programme courses under this four-year format.

However, when asked about the proposal of increasing the number of seats, he responded that the increased seats will be distributed among the major disciplines, which will be offered by the colleges individually.
