Delhi University (DU) to Conduct Student Exchange Programme with French Institute

New Delhi: University of Delhi, popularly known as Delhi University (DU), is all set to start a new international student exchange programme, for credit-based studies. The proposed programme will be conducted in alliance with the Sciences Po, Paris. Reportedly, the two varsities have signed a contract to expand the current exchange programme with St Stephens College, in order to cover other colleges and departments of DU as well.

As per sources, this joint venture will involve a credit-based system, in which students from both the universities will be able to visit each other, for a semester. However, the credits earned by the particular students will be assigned to the home university. Explaining more about the same, Francis Verillaud, Vice President, Sciences Po and Director for International Affairs and Exchanges, said that this innovative exchange programme would provide broad-based learning experience, to students of India as well as, of France.

According to the signed agreement, students of each university will get respective credits back. This means they will not only exchange their knowledge, ideas and values amongst each other but also be able to earn credits for their work done in the foreign university. Main objective of this international educational alliance is to increase student mobility. Besides, it also involves giving students the opportunity to make better and informed choices for their future.

The choices and opportunities of a particular country can only be understood by knowing its social structure, the economic issues, political issues and its job markets etc. To know such typical things, one has to live in it, thus, this type of programme can be very beneficial for aspiring youngsters. Pointing out the benefits of the exchange programme, Verillaud, said that through this programme students will be able to do comparative studies, which is integral for social scientists in the global environment. Vice President, Sciences Po, was in the capital, recently, where he elaborated on the benefits of this exchange programme.
