Jamia Millia Islamia is All Set to Launch a One-year Programme in Chinese Language

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia is all set to introduce a new one-year certificate programme in the Chinese language. The university has already opened admissions for the programme. Willing students can apply for the programme, for which they have to appear for the entrance test.
 
In a statement about the new course, ambassador TCA Rangachari, Director, MMAJ Academy of International Studies, said this is for the first time that the university is introducing a course in the Chinese language. This new certificate course will be an intensive programme with fours hours of teaching spread over five days a week.
 
As per sources, the willing students must have interest in, and familiarity with China. Students, who have Master's Degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate, are eligible to apply for the programme. Admissions for the programme will be granted on the basis of an entrance test, which is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2013, followed by an interview on July 4, 2013. The programme session is expected to commence from July 22, 2013 onwards.
 
As per the university, the new programme is being introduced with an objective to train students in the Chinese language, which would help them in higher studies on China. It will also offer opportunities for students to build their career in the areas of translation and interpretation globally. A language teacher from New Tshing Hua University, Taiwan has been appointed for the programme that will be taught at the varsity.
