Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Signs MoU with American University

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) which is part of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) in the US.

The main aim of this memorandum of understanding (MoU) is cooperation between UMMS and JNMC for academic exchange of faculty, post-doctoral fellows, residents and students apart from encouraging sharing of clinical, academic and research information between the two institutions.

The MoU will also provide the foundation and framework for projects developed by clinical, academic and administrative units from these institutions. JNMC's principal Tariq Mansoor said both the institutions may send delegations to each other's campuses to learn about their educational system and curriculum as well as encourage biomedical research collaboration and exchange programmes for post-doctoral training in biomedical research.

About JNMC

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) is a medical college located in Aligarh affiliated with the faculty of medicine of Aligarh Muslim University. On 2nd. October 1962, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College was declared open by Prof. Hadi Hasan with an intake of first batch of forty MBBS students. JNMC has many departments such as Department of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Radiodiagnosis, Radiotherapy, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Neurosurgery, General Surgery and Medicine.

The college and the hospital impart health care facilities to the downtrodden in and around the district of Aligarh. JNMC is ranked seventh among the medical colleges in India. The Post Graduate education was started in 1971 and presently post graduate degree is awarded in twenty departments.
