B Ed Students of DU Offered Internship in Government Schools

New Delhi: The Bachelor of Education (B Ed) students Delhi University (DU) are now being given the opportunity to teach in government schools for a year, as part of their internship. It is for the first time that the University has undergone such a tie up for itsB Ed students. As per sources, government has already approved the proposal. At present, the Directorate of Education, in association with DU, is preparing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as the modalities for the tie-up.

Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor (VC) - DU, said that the university has taken such an initiative to provide its B Ed students with hands-on training, just like students pursuing professional programmes, who go for industry-training during their studies. The B Ed students also need training after the completion of their course and what better place than government schools, for the same, as it would be the ideal place for a teacher to understand the complexities of the profession. This is because most of the students in these schools are from economically weaker sections (EWS) and are first-time learners.
