Mumbai: Mumbai University is likely to offer Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) course in Marathi. The proposed program in Marathi language would be helpful to the students who aspire to join the Marathi media.
Rammohan Khanapurkar, Board of Studies, BMM said that the proposal have received positive response from the colleges under Mumbai University. He also mentioned that modifications have been in the syllabus to include information on Marathi media, history etc. Total of eleven colleges including Ramnarain Ruia College; Dadar, Siddharth College; Fort, DG Ruparel College; Matunga and Ambedkar College; Matunga have given their approval of offering the program form the next academic session. As per the sources few colleges in the city have applied to start the course in Marathi form this academic year. However, colleges are still considering the logistics with regards to teachers, seats etc. The major concern right now for the colleges is that teachers who can teach in both Marathi and English would be required.
