New Delhi: The prolonged issue of implementation of semester system atDelhi University (DU), between its administration and faculty members, is still amidst chaos. The ongoing scuffle over the execution of the semester system has failed to come to a conclusion.
This year, DU was certain about the implementation of the semester system for 12 undergraduate science courses and a semester based syllabus had also been prepared for them. However, the semester system as well as the new syllabus had been discarded by the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA).
As per sources, the counsels for both DU and DUTA had appeared before the High Court to put rest to the matter. Delhi High Court had demanded an affidavit from them on Tuesday, so that a detailed order could be passed. Further, the court had also asked both parties on July 15, 2010 to reach a consensus over the issue, by appointing a lawyer as a mediator.
The University has approached the Delhi High Court by filing a petition so as to restrain teachers at the university from objecting and demonstrating against the implementation of the semester system.
