New Delhi: This year, the Delhi University has sold nearly 200,000 application forms for admissions to its undergraduate courses. The number of application forms sold is almost more than three times the number of seats offered by the University.
The sale of application forms, which commenced on May 28, concluded on Friday i.e. on June 11, 2010. According to a statement issued by DU, the University sold 186,672 forms for undergraduate courses this year. The total number of seats offered by the varsity is 54,000 - a good 5,000 more seats than last year.
As per sources, last year, the number of seats offered by DU was 49,000 and in 2008 it was 42,000. Out of the total number of forms sold, 143,224 forms were submitted to the university. As compared to 405 forms sold last year to physically handicapped students, 443 forms were sold and submitted this year.
Furthermore, as Friday was the last date for sale and submission of forms, there was a last-minute obvious rush. Also, the first cut-off list for various courses in the colleges will be announced on June 22.
