New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has decided to postpone the semester exams of this year. As per the new schedule, the semester exams will now be commencing in the first week of December and will finish on December 10, 2010. As per sources, Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has demanded the postponement of semester exams, as the syllabus has not been completed yet.
Further, sources informed that the new date sheet for the semester exams would be announced by the end of October. The first semester exams were supposed to be held from November 20, 2010 and to be concluded on November 29, 2010, according to the original academic calendar.
Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor, DU, said that they have decided to reschedule the calendar of exams in the interest of the students. As per sources, the students’ representatives have also asked the DU administration to postpone the exams, as their syllabus has not been completed so far.
Jitender Chaudhary, President, DUSU, said that DUSU welcomes the pro-student step the university is taking. Further, he said that they appeal to the teachers to come to the classroom and complete the syllabus.
