Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has increased the fee for its flagship programme Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management. IIM A has done this for the third consecutive year, to replenish an exhausted amount, to meet payment of sixth pay commission arrears and to make its flagship programme self-sustaining. Presently, the flagship programme will cost Rs 13.7 lakh.
As per sources, IIM-A in 2008 had revised the fee to Rs 11.5 ldakh and to Rs 12.5 lakh in 2009. According to a statement issued by the institute, the fee has been arrived at after taking into account the significant increase in costs due to implementation of sixth pay commission’s recommendations, as well as general rise in operating costs due to high inflation in the economy. It also mentioned that the fee is about 9.6% higher than the fee for 2009-11 batch.
