IITs Mend Last Year’s Admission Policy

New Delhi: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) have mended the admission policy, which they had used last year. As per sources, IITs have called off the admission policy, which they had used last year for admissions. Further, sources informed that the institutes had published the opening and closing ranks of all courses and streams immediately after the admission last year.

However, IITs have abstained from doing the same this year. An IIT Director said that the decision by the IITs this year to change the admission policy has made the whole admission procedure questionable. In addition, the director said that in the year 2006, when the non-transparent admission procedure had been introduced, the IITs had to conduct the counseling all over again.

As per sources, the IITs have admitted students in the second round for the session 2009-2010. This happened for the first time in the history of IITs, sources added. Moreover, sources told that the seats that had been left by students at the commencement of the academic session in all IITs were later offered to wait-listed candidates, to fill up the vacant seats.
