New Delhi: Aligarh based -Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) University offers 14 foreign language courses. The University invites applications for admission into the languages courses, which is to be offered in the upcoming academic session 2010-11. Last date for application closes on June 18, 2010. The intake capacity for the courses varies from 10 to 50.
The list of foreign language courses includes modern Arabic, modern Persian, Kazhaki, Turkmenian, Pashto, Turkish, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Spanish, Portugese, French, Russian, Italian and Catalan. These courses are offered by the University’s Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Centre for European and Latin American Studies (CELAS) and the MMAJ- Academy of Third World Studies (MMAJ-ATWS). Students can opt for a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma course offered in the various languages.
According to a statement issued by the University, to cater to the rising demand of foreign languages in India, Jamia has the following courses on offer. These courses not only offer career options in translation, interpretation and the likes but also give access to archives and sources in these languages for pursuing academic research.
