Chandigarh: Panjab University will organize a mega job fest Job Fair 2011 from March 4, 2011 to March 6, 2011. As per sources, the Job Fair 2011 will be organized for students of all 75 teaching and research departments of the university. According to officials, besides the 10000 odd students passing out from the university in 2011, all other students are eligible to participate in the job-fest.
R C Sobti, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University said that they have formed a team to make this event a big success. Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) members and faculty members from different streams are part of this team, he added. In addition, he said that to handle database of large number of students, university students have made a web-portal where students can upload their resumes.
Furthermore, Mr. Sobti told the sources that companies can also upload their requirements, mode of short-listing, and salaries offered on the same portal. As per sources, the university will also offer training for interviews and group discussions. Mr. Sobti informed that the focus of the fair is to bring students of arts and other non-vocational streams in the forefront. Moreover, he said that students from management and engineering departments always get good placements. But now they want students from other departments like Hindi, Sanskrit and Political Science to get good jobs, he added.
