Delhi University (DU) has published the third cut-off list 2011, however, leaving very less choice for those aspirants who wish to enroll for the popular commerce and science courses.
As per sources, though colleges don’t have the permission to announce two more cut-off lists after this, however, the fifth and the last one will be published on July 8, 2011. The reason is that after the announcement of the third cut-off list most institutions are almost done with their admission process for 2011- 12.
However, the information regarding the admission being almost closed holds true only for the general category candidates. Seats reserved under the OBC quota are still vacant. To attract more candidates, certain colleges have gone to the extent of granting a full 10 % relaxation in their cut- off marks, as against the general category cut- off.
Sources have informed that for BCom (Honours) course, most colleges have hung out the closed sign. Presently, a total of only 13 colleges are still enrolling for the course, as opposed to the 43 colleges which had furthered lowered their cut-off marks for the same course in the second list. Hansraj College and Kirori Mal College are the only North Campus institutes which is still open with its admission to the course, even if at a very marginally lower cut- off percentage.
In case of Economics (Honours), which is yet another popular choice with DU aspirants, only five colleges now open for admission. This year, despite the soaring cut-off marks announced in the first list, colleges have admitted more students than their usual capacity in almost all science courses. While admission to Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany are almost over, hope remains afloat only in BSc Life Sciences in most colleges.
Though the third cut off list has disappointed the commerce and science aspirants, admission to English (Honours) is still open at many colleges, especially those which take in students through the CATE.
