The decision to send its meritorious students to study abroad during the new academic session has finally taken shape. DU has selected 10 undergraduate students for a short study trip to Melbourne, Australia, under the ‘Global Citizenship Programme for Young Leaders,’ which will be held from October 1-9, 2011. The university selected undergraduate students (who are either in second or third-year) to participate in the programme, which is being organized by the Australia-India Institute, University of Melbourne, Australia.

Sources informed that the expenses towards air-travel, visa fees, medical insurance, lodging and boarding will be borne by DU. The programme intends to employ brilliant students with opening and challenges of global citizenship and to explore the varied scope of what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st Century.

Sources have informed that students attending this global citizenship programme will not have to attend the regular formal classes. However, they will learn how different universities function and understand the functioning of the entire system. In addition, these students will get enough time to interact with teachers.
