Ahmedabad: Gujarat University (GU) has decided to withhold the result of Arts and Commerce colleges. The University has decided to hold back the results of those colleges which fail to send the internal markings of their students to the university by May 26, 2011. As per sources, around 2.50 lakh students had appeared for various examination conducted under various disciplines by the university from the period between March to May, this year.
Sources have informed that the announcement of results for various exams conducted by the University in its various disciplines has commenced from Monday. Also, the results are expected to be announced by June 15, 2011. Parimal Trivedi, University Vice-Chancellor (VC) said that they are trying to declare the results at the earliest. He added that, however, it will be the responsibility of the colleges if the result of their students is withheld due to the careless approach of the college management.
The University had itself introduced choice based credit system (CBCS) in postgraduate courses. The first semester examination for the postgraduate courses had been conducted by various university departments. Many departments have not sent internal marking for the same due to which result of students is likely to be withheld. However, the university was hardly concerned about the negligence of these departments. Also, there was no effort to initiate any action against them by the University.
