IGNOU Inks Pact with Aditya Birla Group

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) inks pact with the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in order offer training to the less privileged sections of society belonging to rural, suburban and disadvantaged locations in garment stitching. The announcement was made by an IGNOU official on Friday i.e. on August 5, 2011.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IGNOU and Aditya Birla's Madura Fashion and Lifestyle Limited (MFL), three short-term courses would be introduced in order to promote self-employment. According to a statement issued by the IGNOU official there would be a essential and an advanced course in garment stitching for one and two months respectively. The third course will be in garment stitching and quality control for two and a half months. He added that all of these programmes will be coordinated by the regional centre of Delhi.

Moreover, as per the MoU, MFL will enroll at least 200 students per year as per IGNOU approved eligibility conditions and conduct programmes at approved learning centres only.
