IIM-A Organizes First Theatre Festival

Ahmedabad: For the first time, Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) organizes theatre festival. A series of plays are being staged at IIM-A in the last couple of days, which is treating students and faculty members to evenings of entertainment.
 
This year, the IIM-A's Cultural and Theatre Society (IIMACTS), has introduced a festival called 'Rubaroo'. The 1st edition of the festival began on August 19, 2011. It will host three different plays and end on Tuesday. Smruti Soni, coordinator of IIMACTS said that this is the first theatre festival of the institute's club. Soni also added that they will be presenting a variety of plays in Hindi, English and Bengali.
 
Apart from offering entertainment and an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, the festival also intends to familiarize the students with the nuances of management. The first two evenings of the festival staged a version of 'Black Comedy' by Peter Shaffer and a Hindi play namely 'Park' by Manav Kaul, a comedy about three men quarreling over three benches in a park.
 
Soni mentioned that the theatre club adds to the strong cultural scene of the institute. She also informed that all aspects of the staging the plays, from music to lighting, are managed by them.
