Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) have come together to organize a series of workshops at IIM-A. It is an initiative to provide a neutral platform for discussion amongst various stakeholders of financial inclusion.
As per sources, while the first workshop in the series was held on March 7, the second workshop will be held on April 21, 2011. While the first workshop discussed about the various business and technology issues, and challenges in the existing information and communication technology enabled financial inclusion initiatives, the second workshop will be held with an objective to put forward parameters for evaluating these technologies that are being used for financial inclusion at different levels. Besides, various representatives from the industry and experts from the academia will take part in the workshop.
Furthermore, the findings of these workshops propose to offer a basis for evaluating and prospecting various technology-enabled financial initiatives in the nation. The idea is to help various stakeholders including the regulators, funding agencies, banks and financial organizations to choose appropriate technology for financial inclusion proposals.
