Lucknow: ‘Ladies first’ would be the mantra for admission at the Indian Institute of Management – Lucknow (IIM- L), from the next academic session. With an aim to encourage women candidates in the field of management, IIM-L has changed its admission strategy giving a special weightage of two marks to them on gender basis.
Prof Arunabha Mukhopadhyay, Chairman, IIM-L admission committee has said that the institute has changed its admission policy for 2012-14, giving a special weightage of two marks to female candidates. He added that this alteration in the admission policy has been adopted in order to promote more women in the field of management.
Prof Mukhopadhyay informed that the admission policy for the session 2012-14 Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and the PGP-ABM (Agriculture Business Management) has been designed with an intent of attracting talents from diversified fields like medicine, law, arts and humanities.
Furthermore, as per a statement issued by Prof Mukhopadhyay till now those belonging to the engineering field were in maximum numbers on the campus, however, with the new admission policy, they hope to attract people from diversified fields.
