The cabinet government has decided to reduce the land area allotted for Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi (IIM-R).

IIM-R Allotted Land to Get Reduced

New Delhi: On Wednesday i.e. on September 7, 2011 thecabinet has decided to reduce the land area allotted for Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi (IIM-R).
 
According to Aditya Swaroop, Cabinet Secretary, earlier the government had decided to transfer around 214 acres for IIM-R from that of Birsa Agriculture University. He added that, however, the cabinet has now decided that only 76 acres of the land will be taken from the agriculture university and will be transferred to IIM-R. He also mentioned that the land would be transferred to state human resource development department free of cost.
 
Furthermore, sources have informed that among other significant decisions taken by the cabinet was approval of the proposal of civil aviation department to transfer the airstrip of Deoghar district to Airports Authority of India. At a total cost of Rs 350 crore the airport will be developed by AAI. Mr Swaroop mentioned that the government will have to acquire another 365 acres and rehabilitate the displaced families affected by construction of the new airport. In addition, government would have to spend an amount of Rs 40 crore for providing water and power to the displaced families.
