IIM-Shillong 2nd Convocation Held Today

Shillong: Indian Institute of Management - Shillong (IIM-Shillong) organized its 2nd Convocation for the PGP Batch of 2011, today i.e. on March 28, 2011. The batch comprise of 66 students who were awarded certificates at the institute's second convocation.
 
As per sources, while addressing the convocation, the CMD of Power Grid Corporation of India SK Chaturvedi, who was the Chief Guest said, IIM Shillong has been emerging as a leader in the field of management education in India. He said that the farsightedness and positivity of the institute in creating a niche for itself as one of the most tech savvy campuses in the country.
 
Moreover, urging the diploma holders to serve the environment, Chaturvedi said, protection of the environment counts, so does the demand for a fair distribution of resources among stakeholders present and future. The CMD said that noting that paradigms have changed from sustainable yield targets for each commodity to an integrated approach known as sustainable development, neither agriculture, nor forestry or any other sector can develop in isolation.
 
Mr Chaturvedi, has also emphasized that one must move to people's total socio-economic situation, to the entire landscape and the integrity of its functions. He said that they must undertake a global energy revolution sustained by savings, rationality and efficiency.
 
Furthermore, during the convocation, Manav Jain bagged the Rathindranath Dutta Gold Medal for the highest cumulative grade point average of the year, besides, receiving the Ashoke K Dutta Gold Medal for all-round performance. Also, Sakshi Sharma has received the institute's medal for standing second, while Shweta Srivastava and Hitesh Gulath were awarded medal for positive contribution to campus life and Math Finance AG Gold Medal respectively.
