IIM-T to Be Functional From June 15

Tiruchirappalli: Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T) will be functional from June 15, 2011. Initially, the institute would commence with a total intake of 60 students in the first batch, boys as well as girls.
 
Dr Prafulla Agnihotri, Director of IIM-T, said that everything is set the infrastructure is in place and 12 faculty members have been selected after severe selection parameters. The IIM will function temporarily from the National Institute of Technology campus here.
 
He also mentioned that the fee would be Rs 10 lakh for the two-year programme, which is all inclusive of tuition fee, course materials, basic books and case study books. Besides the tuition fee, students may have to pay Rs 25,000 for advance mess bill and a caution deposit of Rs 15,000. He said that the fee is reasonable compared to other new IIMs.
 
He said that the faculty would be in the institute for the start of the first batch of its Post Graduate Programme on Finance and Accounting, Marketing, Strategic Management, Operation and Qualitative Analysis, HR and Organisational Behaviour, Management Information System. Although the board has sanctioned the recruitment of 20 members, however, he plans to have four or five more.
 
Furthermore, Dr Agnihotri informed that he has formed link with more than 30 leading corporates, including MNCs. These firms would provide eight-week summer training programme to students at the end of the first academic year. Besides, the institute is also getting ready to launch orientation programme and satellite-based programme class and online programme for working executives.
 
Sources have informed that IIM-T has started successful conversation with leading B-Schools in Europe as well as US. Also, the institute plans to hold talks with the B-Schools in Singapore and Australia for student and faculty exchange programmes.
