New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, also known as IP University, cancel its part-time weekend MBA programme in Disaster Management for government sponsored candidates, to be offered in the academic session 2011-13.
As per the sources, the main reason for this cancellation is the lack of applications arrived. The University decided to commence the programme with an initial intake of 60 students, however, it failed to attract sufficient number of students and only six applications were received, for the session 2011-13.
Moreover, according to the university authorities, the course has seen a low response since the time it was introduced five years back. Nalini Ranjan, spokesperson, IP University, informed that around two years back as well, the University had to cancel the course because of less number of applicants. Ranjan added that course is facing the same condition this year too.
Furthermore, Ranjan said that the University had also extended the last date of application. However, only six applications were received. Moreover, under such condition the University can’t run a course, as mentioned in the prospectus that the course will be cancelled unless it get a minimum number of applicants. Ranjan informed that the application fee will be refunded to the applicants.
