Lucknow University To Get Agriculture Faculty

Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) will soon have an agriculture faculty. As per sources, the Academic council of the Lucknow University, which met on Friday i.e. March 4, 2011, has decided to constitute a faculty of agriculture.

The decision to constitute the faculty of agriculture was taken in order to accommodate the CB Gupta Agriculture College situated in Bakshi Ka Talab area of Lucknow. The college came under the jurisdiction of LU with a government order last year that all the colleges in Lucknow district should come under LU. Before this, the college was affiliated to Kanpur University.

Professor SK Dwivedi, spokesperson of LU has said that the Academic council has given its permission to establish a faculty of agriculture in the university. However, as of now, there will be no teaching staff but will have a dean to look after the administrative work of the faculty and the college under it.

Sources also informed that the Council on Friday also decided that for thesis in Sanskrit, the PhD students will have to write in Sanskrit language. Till now, it could also be written in Hindi. In addition, the council also gave its approval to start a course of Physical Education at the undergraduate level. The council also gave nod to proposal of giving five new gold medals for different courses.
