Bhubaneswar: Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneshwar (XIBM) has celebrated its 20th Convocation ceremony on Wednesday i.e. March 30, 2011. The event was held at institute’s auditorium.
As per the sources, Chairman of Godrej Group, Mr. Adi Godrej graced the event as the Chief Guest. Few other delegates present in the ceremony were the Chairman of XIMB, Rajive Kaul, Director - P.T.Joseph S.J., Dean (Academics) - Prof. Subhajyoti Ray, and Dean (Administration) -Fr. P.D. Thomas.
In his convocation speech, Mr. Godrej discussed about the long and fulfilling relations between Godrej Group and XIMB, referring to the industry caliber of the XIMB graduates. He also guided graduating students about the uncertainty of world economy and how to compete in the era of discontinuity maintaining equity and sustainability.
While encouraging young graduates, he advised them to go for leadership, to not listen to people who say It’s not done that way. However, he did not forget to tell them that everyone should play to win but not to play dirty.
In addition, a total of 270 students received their graduation degrees. Amongst them, 175 students graduated from the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGDM), 58 students graduated from the PGDM (Rural Management) programme and rest 37 graduated from the PGDM (Part time) programme.
