Department of South & Southeast Asian Studies, University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, Kolkata, has invited applications from eligible candidates (holding MA degree from UGC recognized universities in South & Southeast Asian Studies, History, Political Science, International Relations, Anthropology and Economics) for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) programme, to be offered in the upcoming session 2012. Admission will be made on the basis of candidate's performance in the entrance test, followed by personal interview, to be conducted by the University department.
Note: Candidates who have already passed UGC / CSIR (JRF) examinations / NET / SET / SLET / Teacher Fellowship / M Phil or equivalent examinations need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the interview.

The application fee of Rs 100 should be through a Challan obtainable from any Calcutta University campus (cash counter). The duly filled in and completed application form, along with all requisite enclosure documents (detailed list given on the website), should be submitted to the office of the Department of South & Southeast Asian Studies, latest by August 24, 2012.
