Ranchi: Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, a deemed University, will hold its XXIIIth convocation ceremony on April 10, 2013. As per the notification issued by the University, Shri Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has consented to grace the ceremony as Chief Guest and deliver the convocation address. Thereafter, the ceremony will preside over by Dr Syed Ahmad, the Governor of Jharkhand & Honorable Chancellor of the University.
The convocation ceremony will be held at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium of BIT Mesra. Candidates, who have successfully completed their programmes till March 15, 2013, can attend the ceremony and collect their degree & certificates.
For appearing in the ceremony, candidates have to submit the duly filled-in application form (made available on the official website of BIT Mesra) along with all requisite enclosures to the Registrar, BIT Mesra, on or before April 5, 2013. If candidates are not appearing in the convocation ceremony, they have to submit the same to the Registrar, between April 10 and April 30, 2013.
Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) qualified candidates, who seek to collect their degree in the convocation, are required to pay a Registration Fee of Rs 2000. The application fee can be paid in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of Birla Institute of Technology, Payable at Ranchi.
Candidates seeking to attend the convocation and collect their degree are required to wear the gown, hood / mortar board for the occasion. The gown, hood / mortar board will be issued on April 9, 2013 (between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm) from Room No 221 of Institute's Main Building. For that, candidates have to deposit a refundable amount of Rs 1000 at the specified counter of BIT Mesra.
