Department of Geology, University of Calcutta, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates to register for Research Eligibility Test 2013, also known as RET in Geology. The test is being conducted in order to select eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) in Geology. The final selection of candidates will be done one the basis of short-listed candidates’ performance in the interview, to be conducted by the University department.
Note: Candidates who have already cleared eligibility tests like NET, GATE, SLET etc., or, having M Phil, or M Tech, with examination scores valid on the day of holding the RET written examination need not appear for the test and can directly take part in the interview.

The entrance test schedule is as follows:
- RET (Written Part) – April 5, 2013 (from 12.00 noon onwards)
- RET (Interview Part) – April 8, 2013 (from 12.00 noon onwards)

Interested candidates are required to download the application format from the University's official website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. The direct link to download the prescribed format is: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/admission%20notice/RET_Geology-1.pdf. Application fee is Rs 100 which is to be paid at the cash counter of the University of Calcutta using Challan. The duly filled in and completed application in the prescribed format, along with the photocopy of Challan, should be submitted to the Head, Department of Geology, University of Calcutta, latest by March 22, 2013 (up to 4.00 pm).
