Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission into Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programme, to be offered at Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding Institute of Agricultural Science, in the ensuing session 2013. Selection will be made on the basis of candidates’ performance in Research Eligibility Test (RET), followed by interview, to be conducted by the University on the belowmentioned date.
Note:
- RET will be of 50 marks, comprising of multiple choice or short type questions. The duration of the examination will be one hour.
- Candidates who have qualified M Phil / NET / GATE / SLET / Teacher Fellowship do not have to appear for the RET (Research Eligibility Test). However, they need to qualify the interview to secure admission.
- Candidates appearing for the interview must submit a research proposal or Statement of Purpose (SOP) on the day of the interview.
Date of Exam
RET is scheduled to be held on February 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
Interview of the selected candidates will be conducted on February 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

An application fee of Rs 100 is to be paid by the candidates either in cash or by Demand Draft (DD) through duly filled in Challan, endorsed by the Head of the Department. The duly filled-in application form, complete in all respect, should be submitted to the Head of Department (HOD), Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, Calcutta University, on or before February 11, 2013.
