New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to start an elective course in human rights and gender studies in its schools from the upcoming academic session 2013. The Board has decided to introduce this course in response to the growing concern over the lack of gender sensitization among youth. However, it is also anticipated that this move has been planned weeks after the Delhi gang rape has shocked the country with demands of rigorous training and sensitization among men and women.
As per sources, this to-be launched course will be available in all CBSE-affiliated schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, in the country as well as abroad. The elective subject will be made available for students of class XI and XII. Sources have further informed that the Board had already prepared a blueprint of the syllabus for the subject and thus, the course will be available from the 2013 session.
