The Delhi Technological University (DTU) (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) is witnessing huge rush for MTech and PhD course, to be offered in the ensuing session 2013-14.
As per sources, DTU has received about 10,000 online registrations for its M. Tech programmes offered in 22 disciplines. The total intake for the programme is about 550 seats. It has been noticed that the following disciplines of M. Tech programme are attracting more students namely the Electronics & Communication Engineering including VLSI Design and Embedded System and Microwave and Optical Communications and Signal Processing and Digital Design, Computer Science & Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical & Production Engineering, Bio Informatics, Nanoscience & Technology Information Systems and Polymer Science, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Structure Engineering, Environment Engineering, Hydraulic & Flood control Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering
Furthermore, Dr Ruchika Malhotra, Coordinator (M.Tech & Ph.D Admissions) has informed that, this year, DTU has received around 1700 applications for its PhD programme as compared to about 1100 forms received last year. The great rush for PhD programmes has been in the following disciplines:
Computer Science & Engineering and Software Engineering programs -251 applications received
Electronics & Communication programs - 150 applications received
Biotechnology - 190 applications received
Management - 194 applications received
In a statement issued by Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, has said that DTU has strong industrial surface and its PG & research programme are of high relevance & great value to the industries. He added that students pursuing the PG programmes in the university engage themselves in research & development and are encouraged to opt for projects of high value to the industry. The rush for M.Tech & PhD applications in DTU clearly indicates the fact about the popularity of the high quality post graduate programme of the university, which have received placed its students in reputed industries and R& D Organizations during the campus placement in academic session 2012-13. During the placement session all its eligible PG students have been absorbed in highly reputed companies.
