The state government ruled out the postponement of EAMCET 2013 engineering counselling that is scheduled to be held from August 19 across the state. As per the AP High court’s directions, the counselling process for admission into various engineering courses will begin on August 19, 2013.
Earlier, there was uncertainty over the counselling after the government employees associations in Seemandhra region on Friday threatened to disrupt the counselling against the proposed bifurcation of the state. However, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Deputy CM C. Damodar Raja Narasimha directed the officials to conduct EAMCET counseling as per schedule.
They also said that the government cannot postpone the counselling as postponement will affect the academic year of students and the counselling has already been delayed by over two months. They asked the police department to provide adequate police protection at the counselling centres to prevent any untoward incidents.
The Polytechnic All Lecturers Association has decided to go on mass casual leave from Monday and APNGOs president Ashok Babu asked the government to postpone the counseling, but neither has said that they will obstruct the counselling process on Monday morning.
On the first day, there will be certificate verification for rankers up to 15,000 at 56 counselling centres in the state. Of these, 34 are located in Seemandhra region and 20 of them at polytechnic colleges.
APNGOs president Ashok Babu asked the government to postpone the counselling process, in the morning, as RTC employees and others were on strike. However, counseling at 22 centres in Telangana is expected to be peaceful.
EAMCET 2013 counselling will be held as per schedule for admissions into various engineering courses.
