IGNOU Invites Applications for MSCDFSM 2013 Admissions

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, has invited applications for admissions into Master of Science in Dietetics and Food Service Management (MSCDFSM) course, for the academic year 2013. The last date of application will close on June 15, 2013.

It is compulsory for the candidates to participate in the practical sessions. The duration of internship of three months in the Dietetic Department of a recognized hospital/ institution as that is compulsory for the award of M.Sc. (DFSM) degree. Besides, the University allows credit transfer in the MSc. (DFSM) Programme to in-service dietitians (with a degree in Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition only) for those who have successfully completed a three month internship programme from a recognized institutions/ university in the last five years.

Interested candidates are requested to visit official website of IGNOU www.ignou.ac.in or contact nearest IGNOU Regional Centre/Study Centre. In addition, applicants can obtain the Prospectus from Regional Centres in person against a payment of Rs 200 or by post by sending a DD of Rs 250 in favor of IGNOU, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68.

 The M.Sc. Programme in the area of Dietetics and Food Service Management has been designed keeping in mind the needs of training work force/developing human resources (dietitians, nutrition counsellors, food service managers etc.) for the emerging employment sector - hospital community dietetics, food service management. The programme will offer unique opportunity of higher education to learners to enrich their working lives by entering into the market and/or starting their own food service unit, leading to entrepreneurship.

Moreover, the programme emphasis on improving the professional competencies of serving personnel in food service establishments, such as dietitians, diet technicians, counsellors etc. upgrading their knowledge and equipping them with productive skills to improve their career succession and employability. The special feature of the programme offers its applicants is that the provision of exit point for learners in the form of Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Nutrition (PGDDPN) after having completing course work and internship programme. The programme has both theory and practical components.
