Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A) have launched a new one year comprehensive Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) Leadership Development Programme for senior executives, this year. The programme will commence with an initial intake of 30 students.
As per sources, the newly introduced programme was inaugurated by Ashok Kumar Gupta, Additional Secretary, Defence Production (MoD) at IIM-A. During the inauguration ceremony Mr Gupta has said that it is rare opportunity for HAL executives on one hand and IIM on the other to understand the needs of the defence sector. He said that they need to develop leadership in PSUs and capability mapping is very important factor. He added that the HAL's initiative should bring about positive changes in all aspects of its functioning.
According to a statement issued by R. K. Tyagi, Chairman, HAL, the company is proud to be connected with the country's finest management institute and both the organizations stand to expand with such proposals. He said that their aim is to train today's generation to take on the challenges of tomorrow by exposing them to the best international practices on all operational fronts. Moreover, the IIM Officiating Director, Ajay Pandey has also elaborated on the varied activities of the institute, which he stressed, endeavors for excellence in all fields and is equally equipped to take care of the special needs of the highly specialized HAL.
Furthermore, sources have added that the participants will have international exposure and the subjects to be covered include business environment, individual and organization, global competitive mindset, innovation and technology, strategic alliances and JVs, ethics and governance. The one-year program is to be conducted in seven phases, which comprises of training at IIM-Ahmedabad combined together with individual and group project work of topics relevant to HAL.
