Maharashtra Government Announces New Courses for Colleges

Mumbai: Maharashtra government, on Wednesday, has issued a list of new post-graduate and degree courses to be offered by colleges under the University of Mumbai. This list was released after the weekly cabinet meeting.
 
As per sources, as many as 71 colleges from the state had asked for 42 post-graduate and degree courses in order to satisfy the shifting interests of the students. Out of the 20 post-graduate courses requested, 11 were for MA degree, 6 for M Sc degree, and 3 for M Com degree.
 
As per information, advanced accountancy was the most sought-after course for M Com degree, as it was demanded by a total of 19 colleges. On second position was Master's in banking and finance, which was opted by four colleges.
 
On the other hand, economics and history were the most popular courses for MA degree. 15 colleges demanded for MA courses, of which eight requested for history and economics taken together. St Xavier's, an autonomous college, is the only one which opted for a new public policy course.
 
According to the released list, for degree courses, B Com Accounting and Finance (A&F) was the most popular course, succeeded by BMS and B Sc (IT), which were demanded by the colleges. B Com A&F was opted by six colleges, BMS course by five, and B Sc (IT) course was demanded by four colleges.
