Bhubaneswar: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar, Orissa, has announced its short-term summer programme, along with lateral entry for diploma and degree holders from the session 2013-14.
For the first time, the institute has decided to provide lateral entry to Diploma or Degree holders in Engineering, in the third semester of its Bachelor of Fashion Design, Textile Design, and Fashion & Lifestyle Accessory Design. Candidates seeking lateral admission have to compete at an All-India Entrance Examination, as the admission is done solely on merit basis. To update students about it, the NIFT has lately organized an open-house programme, and invited the willing candidates for campus visit.
As per sources, the candidates applying for lateral entry, are required to have a Three years Diploma or Degree after 10 or Plus Two, in courses related to Fashion / Fashion Technology like Apparels, Textiles, Accessories, Apparel Technology, Leather, Home Science, Handloom Technology, Communication, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Multimedia Design or Technology and Engineering, from the Central / State Government Institutes or AICTE, AIU, UGC, Government-recognized Institute / College / University.
Students with science background, who have Diploma or Degree in Engineering, may also enroll for the programme. Desired candidates for lateral entry admission can fill online application forms available on the official NIFT website.
The last date for submitting online application form is June 17, 2013. The written examination and interview are scheduled to be held on June 28, 2013. The candidates can also get the admission forms from the Institute.
