Utkal University Plans to Conduct a Separate Entrance Exam

Utkal University is planning to introduce a separate joint entrance examination for admission into various professional courses such as MBA, MCA, pharmacy, personal management and industrial relation (PMIR), etc offered by the University.

According to a statement issued by K Mishra, PG Council chairman of the university, they have come to know that OJEE (Odisha Joint Entrance Examination) is hesitant to share their merit list with Utkal University. Therefore, they are planning to introduce their own Utkal University Joint Entrance Examination (UUJEE), from the coming academic session.

Mr Mishra mentioned that with the introduction of a separate JEE for the university, the process of admission will become simpler and hassle free for both the University as well as the students. He said that they are also facing problems due to lack of coordination with the OJEE. Moreover, he informed that the advertisement in this regard will be issued in the first week of May.

Sources have informed that there are nearly 1,000 seats for different professional courses in the university. All the constituent technical institutes under the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), VSS University of Technology and Utkal University have thus far been admitting students to various professional courses including engineering, medical, MBA, MCA, pharmacy, archeology, etc., from the OJEE merit list.

However, authorities of OJEE have said no decision has been taken yet about not sharing their list with Utkal University. According to a statement issued by Priyabrat Sahu, secretary of OJEE committee, no such decision has been taken in this regard so far.
