New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) would begin selling admission forms for various undergraduate courses from June 1. Student across the capital, as well as from other cities are rushing for the admission forms, available till June 15 for admission into 61 colleges.
 
The form and the information bulletin can be bought from any of the 16 designated centers. For the students desirous of appearing in the Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE), the forms would be available at the department of English in Faculty of Arts. For queries related to DU admissions, aspirants can log on to www.missionadmission.in or www.admission.itimes.com. Many colleges also provide the facility of applying online. So, checking the college websites will help.Moreover, the registration for the differently-abled and SC/ST candidates would also start with the facility of free of cost registration forms, issued for these candidates. The SC/ST candidates are required to submit the caste certificate in their own name at the time of registration. The OBC candidates need to submit their certificate at the time of admission.
 
DU and the police have also promised elaborate security arrangements during the admission process. DU has banned the stalls of private universities and institutes on its campus. Only DUSU help desks would be allowed. Nupur Sharma, DUSU President, said that the facility such as free photocopying and free transportation to aspirants would also be provided. As per the sources, this year nearly one lakh students are expected to apply for 49000 total seats at the undergraduate level. Last year, 92000 students had applied for admission through the common pre-admission form. Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Students’ Welfare, said that students can apply in as many colleges and in as many courses through a single common pre-admission form. Forms would be made available at various centers, across the city. Therefore, the students need not flock to the North Campus.
