DU Students Union Helps Out the Freshers

New Delhi: Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) has taken the initiative to help the freshers this year. DUSU is planning the help those students who are trying for admissions at Delhi University and seem worried about finding their way around, picking up a new laptop or just wondering what direction their career would take.

Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) has many plans to make the new batch of students, or freshers, feel welcome. Nupur Sharma, DUSU President, said that the first thing most students do after they get into colleges is to buy computers and laptops. Therefore, DUSU is preparing a platform where students can purchase these gadgets cheap. For students planning to buy computers and laptops in the new academic session, beginning July, heavy discounts will be available. She also mentioned that DUSU is in talks with five IT companies, including HCL and Dell. Soon, a tie-up with the one that offers the best deal is expected. This would provide the companies with a ready market for their products, while the students would get a platform where they can buy computers at the most pocket friendly price.

DUSU has also set up information desks at all the colleges, where the common pre-admission forms are being sold. The help desks have been set up at all the centers and volunteers are helping students and parents in filling the forms as well as guiding them as to where they should go and whom they have to speak to. DUSU volunteers are also providing information regarding important dates for admissions and paying-guest accommodation. DUSU volunteers would also be guiding freshers on career options apart from what DU offers. The guidance would prove beneficial for those who can't make the cut-offs.
